I by Inagiku defines a modern dining experience dedicated to the theatre of authentic Japanese cuisine. The design ethos of the venue is designed to evoke ‘a dreamscape of the mythical Kabuki memoire’ – the classical Japanese dance-theatre. Working with the vast 900sqm venue with its stunning 6m ceiling height, Fu seeks to create this dreamscape by taking guests into a curated journey of transitional spaces – from the stark and rectilinear entrance, the organic main dining ‘garden’, to the intimate private dining salons. Whilst the interior of each spatial pocket is conceptualized with strong reference the rustic textures and motifs of the historical Edo period, contrasting art installations are introduced to provoke a sense of playfulness.
