With its prime, central location in a stunning 1920’s building on the corner of Nanjing Road and Tai Xing Road, the Lobby at Shanghai’s Jia Boutique Hotel exudes a feel of ‘Eclectic China’. Guests are welcomed into the hotel by AFSO’s stunning ‘Cascade’ installation in a two-storey space where haute heritage birdcages are suspended from the ceiling above an undulating Chinese black lacquered sculpture.
Washed oak flooring and fabric wall paneling with an ornate French brocade motif creates AFSO’s answer to a shabby chic residential look of haute heritage – a challenge to create an edgey public space that is welcoming, yet homey at the same time.
